Ai notetaker by fathom6/10/2023 Here are three questions to consider before you start using an AI-based note-taking service: 1) Do I live in a two-party consent state? Photo courtesy of: Diligentia Group Though several new and exciting artificial intelligence-based note-taking companies like Voicera and Clarke.ai boast how their services can help you increase productivity, I challenge eager professionals to take a step back first and consider some ethical and legal dilemmas that may arise from using such services. The AI-based notetaker calls in, takes notes, then sends you a meeting summary right after, with audio clips included. ![]() It can work something like this: You sign up for the service online, send it a calendar invite to your meeting, and then forget about the rest. ![]() You may be on the lookout for tools to increase productivity and focus, and something like an artificial intelligence-based notetaker might catch your eye - it certainly piqued my interest! But, as always, there are risks and concerns to note as a potential investor. If you’re in a business of any kind, you’re no stranger to meetings - and if your business is public relations, lots of meetings. The product is fantastic, and in a lot of ways, the company is poised for success. But there is a difference between being a fan of a product and thinking that the company would make a strong addition to an investment portfolio. If you couldn’t tell, I am a big fan of this product. I did notice there were some minor transcription errors, but that was to be expected. Having a side panel that sorted attendees, action items, highlights, and questions by speaker was extremely helpful in my follow-up. (I redacted the transcription for privacy.) I loved being able to search within the transcript, especially while writing this article. Richard sent me a link to the recording of our call with Fathom highlights and transcription. Selling a business plan is in the works, but he plans to keep the software free for individual users (something I was very excited about as a consumer). ![]() I recently spoke with Richard White, the founder of Fathom, about the software. The cherry on top is that Fathom is free for individual use. For example, if an investor had a question about how your startup’s technology works, you could send a clip of the question directly to your engineering team’s Slack channel, all while staying on the call. ![]() Clips can also be synced with Slack in real time. And if you, like me, spend half your work hours on Zoom, you may want to try it yourself.įathom’s software records a Zoom call while allowing users to highlight important moments in a call, transcribe calls, generate a call summary, and even sync with a customer relationship management (CRM) tool. When I came across Fathom’s AI Notetaker, a Zoom app for taking notes during meetings, I immediately installed it. It’s easy to get so swept up in the narrative and forget that I am supposed to be taking notes for my analyst reports. I start off most founder interviews with a simple question: “What is the genesis story of your company?” Founders are some of the best storytellers, and when I ask this question, I am always fully engrossed in whatever they have to say.
